Nitrogen purging and brazing

Confirm flow before heat goes on the copper.

The NitroVue™ is built for HVAC/R technicians who purge copper pipework with nitrogen during brazing. It shows when nitrogen is flowing, helps control the flow rate, and supports cleaner internal pipework by reducing oxygen inside the tubing.

  • Bright orange float ball gives quick visual confirmation of nitrogen movement.
  • Precision adjustable valve controls the low nitrogen flow used during brazing.
  • Clear purge and braze flow bands help technicians move from high purge flow to lower brazing flow.
  • Aluminium body with open viewing windows protects the tube while keeping the indicator easy to read.
  • Designed for use with a nitrogen regulator set to the correct delivery pressure.

What it helps protect

Nitrogen flow displaces oxygen inside copper tubing during brazing. Keeping nitrogen moving helps reduce internal oxidation and scale that can later travel through refrigeration and air conditioning systems.

  • Copper line sets during brazing and installation work.
  • TXVs, filters, valves and small internal system passages.
  • System cleanliness before evacuation and commissioning.

Flow window guide

Read the ball, then set the flow.

The flow indicator label gives technicians a quick way to move from an initial purge to a lower brazing flow while keeping visual confirmation at the tool.

Purge 20+ SCFH Use higher flow to clear oxygen from the copper line before brazing.
Braze 3–5 SCFH Reduce to a low controlled flow while heating the joint.
01
Set the regulator

Connect the UW-NV1 to a nitrogen regulator and set the delivery pressure to suit the tool’s operating instructions.

02
Purge the copper line

Open the valve until the orange ball rises into the purge range, then allow nitrogen to displace oxygen inside the tubing.

03
Reduce before brazing

Adjust the valve down to the braze range so nitrogen continues moving without excessive consumption.

!
No ball lift means no visible flow

If the ball does not rise, check the cylinder, regulator, valve position and connections before brazing.

Connect Nitrogen cylinder and regulator

Use the UW-NV1 downstream of a suitable nitrogen regulator and connect using the 1/4 in flare fitting path.

Watch Orange float ball

The ball should rise when nitrogen is moving. Static pressure alone does not confirm flow through the copper line.

Adjust Precision needle valve

Use the needle valve to move between purge and braze flow settings during installation or service work.

Nitrogen and brazing checks

Set up the system before opening the torch.

The NitroVue™ is a flow-control and indication accessory. Use it with suitable nitrogen equipment, correct regulator settings and proper brazing procedures for the job site.

Use dry nitrogen only Do not use oxygen, compressed air or fuel gases through the flow indicator.
Confirm regulator pressure Use a suitable nitrogen regulator and confirm delivery pressure before opening the valve.
Check the flow path Verify hoses, fittings and line connections are secure before purging or brazing.
Follow site procedures Use appropriate PPE, ventilation, hot-work controls and HVAC/R service practices.
