Clean plastic pipe cutting

Make square, controlled cuts without reaching for a saw.

The Uniweld PVC Pipe Cutter range is built for technicians preparing plastic pipe where a quick, clean and repeatable cut matters. The ratchet action helps reduce hand effort, while the curved jaw and sharp blade support cleaner cutting compared with rough saw cuts.

  • Designed for PVC pipe used in HVAC/R, plumbing, irrigation and conduit work.
  • Suitable for condensate drain lines, plastic pipe installations and field service kits.
  • Ratchet-style cutting action helps deliver controlled cuts through plastic pipe.
  • Cleaner pipe ends help make dry fitting, joining and installation preparation easier.
  • Two capacity options cover smaller service pipework and larger 63 mm pipe.

What it helps cut

Use the PVC cutter when plastic pipe needs a clean edge, especially where saw dust, jagged ends or crushed pipe can slow down the job.

  • Condensate drain lines and HVAC/R service pipework.
  • PVC, CPVC and polyethylene plastic pipe.
  • Plumbing, irrigation and electrical conduit installations.

PVC cut setup

Mark the pipe, support the cut, then finish the end cleanly.

Good plastic pipe cuts come from matching the cutter to the pipe diameter, keeping the pipe supported and allowing the ratchet action to do the work without twisting the blade through the cut.

01

Check the outside diameter

Match smaller pipework to UW-70078 and larger pipework up to 63 mm to UW-70087 before starting the cut.

02

Square up the mark

Mark the pipe clearly and keep the cutter seated squarely so the blade travels straight through the wall.

03

Ratchet through steadily

Use controlled squeezes instead of forcing the handles. Let the ratchet action advance the blade through the pipe.

04

Inspect and dry-fit

Check the cut edge before fitting, joining or routing the pipe so burrs or deformation do not carry into the installation.

Model choice

Two cutters for different pipe sizes.

The smaller cutter keeps the tool compact for drain-line and service work, while the larger cutter gives more capacity for bigger plastic pipe runs.

Compact capacity

UW-70078

Up to 1-5/8 in. O.D. / 42 mm

Best suited to smaller PVC pipe, condensate drain lines and general service applications where the cutter needs to stay compact.

Blade and tool care

Keep the cut edge clean and the ratchet moving freely.

Plastic pipe cutters work best when the blade is sharp, clean and allowed to close through the pipe without side loading. Replace worn blades before they begin crushing, flaring or walking off the cut line.

Blade check Look for chips, dull edges or pipe residue before repeated cutting.
Pipe support Support the pipe near the cut to avoid twisting the blade through the wall.
Replacement parts 70080 suits the 70078 cutter; 70089 suits the 70087 cutter.
