Compressor oil protection

Keep crankcase oil warmer during the compressor off-cycle.

A sump heater helps keep the compressor warmer than colder parts of the refrigeration circuit while the system is off. This helps reduce refrigerant condensing into the oil, supporting smoother start-up and helping lower the risk of oil dilution, foaming and wear.

  • External compressor sump / crankcase heater range for HVAC/R systems.
  • Helps maintain compressor oil temperature during off-cycles.
  • Helps reduce refrigerant migration into compressor oil.
  • Suited to refrigeration systems, air conditioning, heat pumps and chillers.
  • Metal clamp supports practical installation around the compressor body.
  • Metal braiding provides mechanical protection and supports earthing.

Where it earns its keep

Use the CCCx range when a compressor needs crankcase heating for off-cycle protection, replacement service work or maintenance on HVAC/R equipment exposed to cold ambient conditions or long off periods.

  • Condensing units, refrigeration packs and commercial refrigeration equipment.
  • Heat pumps, chillers and air conditioning compressors.
  • Service replacement where the compressor diameter and wattage must be matched.

Model selector

Match the heater to compressor diameter and wattage.

Select the model that suits the compressor body diameter, the required wattage and the available mounting position around the sump or crankcase.

1 Measure the compressor Check the compressor body diameter where the heater will sit and match it to the listed range.
2 Confirm the wattage Select the wattage required by the compressor application, site specification or service replacement requirement.
3 Check the lead and earth Confirm the connection point, 1000 mm standard lead length and correct earthing before energising.

Installation checks

Before fitting a compressor sump heater.

Fitment should suit the compressor body, electrical supply and site procedure. Confirm the heater is secured around the correct area of the compressor and is not pinched, overlapped, damaged or placed against unsuitable surfaces.

Isolate before work Follow electrical isolation and HVAC/R service procedures before installing or replacing the heater.
Secure the clamp Use the metal clamp correctly and avoid over-tightening, sharp bends or mechanical damage to the heating cable.
Keep the heater external The CCCx range is mounted outside the compressor and should be positioned according to the compressor and site requirements.
Use the correct supply Check voltage, lead routing, earthing and temperature controls before returning the equipment to service.
